Comparative study of AMR-systems, assesment of products and pilot projects in preparation for a domestic service.
Automatic meter reading (AMR) is the technology of automatically collecting consumption, diagnostic, and status data from different utility metering devices and transferring that data to a central database for billing, analyzing and troubleshooting. AMR devices are basically water, gas, electricity and heat meters.
The objectives of this study are: i) to give an overview of the potential wireless technologies to be used in AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) systems; ii) to survey the representative AMR manufacturers all over the world and their product portfolios; iii) to give an overview of a typical AMR system architecture; iv) to take a closer look at some AMR projects; and v) to carry out measurements with wireless AMR devices to obtain propagation characteristics in realistic scenarios.
